First Anniversary of Green Roof: The Tangible Value of a Year of Solar Power

In a moment when energy transition is no longer an option but an imperative, Pipex Italia has switched on its beacon of sustainability in Bagnatica: the Green Roof. Operational since June 2024, this photovoltaic installation has already converted over 106.7 MWh of sunlight into clean energy.

Mounted atop one of the Bagnatica plant’s production halls, the Green Roof was designed to blend seamlessly with the industrial setting and capture every ray of sun. Over twelve months of operation, output was tracked monthly, confirming the accuracy of initial projections and underscoring the project’s technical and strategic robustness.

The most striking figure? Green Roof generated 31% more energy than the site consumed. This achievement goes beyond mere self-sufficiency, proving that a well-engineered system can both cut consumption and add value back into the wider energy network.

On the environmental front, Green Roof has already helped avoid tens of tonnes of CO₂ emissions in just one year. Yet this impact is only part of a broader vision: Pipex is now working to expand on-site production, integrate energy-storage solutions, and the adoption of increasingly efficient and environmentally friendly strategies.

This project stands as one of the clearest expressions of Pipex’s corporate culture—one that treats sustainability not as an add-on but as a core value. Investing in clean energy means caring for the local community, strengthening operational autonomy, and actively driving the ecological transition.

When sustainability becomes a hands-on practice, every rooftop can become an opportunity.
